Institute of Social Studies offers 3 courses in English on the autumn semester of 2019.

The aim of the course is to give an overview of the basic processes that create and retain social inequalities, through the main theoretical approaches of stratification. Introduce the basic texts of stratification theory. Develop the ability to find the main themes in texts, form discussion questions based on those themes and lead discussion.

Basics of AV Production is a production based practical course, where students will try different storytelling ways based on author's role in the audio-visual creation. The course consists of 12-14 practical sessions, during which students will shoot and edit 5-7 videos.

The aim of this course is to discuss the processes characteristic to the current society saturated by media and technology (mediatisation, digitalisation, rise of networks and globalisation) and the accompanying rise of new publics. Additionally, the concept of public sphere and its change in the context of the development of technology will be discussed, focusing on the phenomena specific to the networked and fragmented publics, like online-activism, change of perceived privacy norms, etc.
